AFTERCARE

INSTRUCTIONS & HEALING PROCESS
Following careful instructions will give you the best possible results for your skin type and promote good healing.

Stage 1

You’ll love your new tattoo!
Immediately after finishing the tattoo, the skin around the tattoo will be red. Depending on the sensitivity of your skin, the redness can vary but is totally normal. If the redness doesn’t go away within 1-3 days please let us know and contact your physician as it could be a sign of infection.

Keep the Tegaderm patch over the tattoo for as long as possible. It protects the tattoo from elements like water and promotes healing. Note: The freshly tattooed skin will sometimes release a clear fluid (called Plasma) and excess ink. For this reason, the tattoo under the plastic can look blurry, this is normal. Once the patch is removed, gently wash the tattoo using water and a clean cotton pad.

Stage 2

Once the Tegaderm patch has been removed, the tattoo needs to be gently washed using a sensitive-skin, antimicrobial soap (eg. Cetaphil). After gently washing, pat the area dry.

Now, once the area is patted dry, it is important to keep the fresh tattoo hydrated by applying the provided aftercare balm (Aquaphor) 5 - 7 times a day for TWO WEEKS. During the first few days you may experience itching and slight scabbing around the tattoo,

DO NOT ITCH OR PICK AT THE TATTOOED AREA.

Things not to do in the healing process:

  • No direct sunlight to the area throughout healing.

  • Do not scratch or pick scabs.

  • Do not wear tight clothing over the tattoo while healing.

  • Do not get tattoo too wett (you can use Aquaphor to create a water barrier).

  • Do not immerse your body in water while the tattoo is healing.  For example, no swimming, hot tubs or baths.

  • Avoid excessive sweating

*If you are are allergic to adhesives and do not have a Tegaderm patch, gently wash the tattoo within 4 hours and begin the blaming process.

*If you aren’t allergic but end up experiencing ANY irritation around the bandaged area they need to immediately remove the bandage and begin the washing and blaming process.

Stage 3

In this stage there is slight peeling and occasionally itching but overall the tattoo is basically healed.

Given the beautiful, light handed nature of fine line / tiny tattoos, sometimes a minor touch up is required around 6 weeks after the initial appointment. It is up to the client as to whether they wish to do a touch up or not as it is up to personal taste. If you require a touch up, remember to schedule your appointment within 1-2 months to avoid paying an additional fee.

- ALWAYS USE SPF OVER YOUR TATTOO AND KEEP IT HYDRATED TO PROLONG IT'S LIFE SPAN -
